Picking a password can be easy, but we need to follow good advice when picking them.
TLDR
Use a password generator, such as: Bitwarden's Password Generator or pick random words from a book.
Practice typing your password - get it into muscle memory!
Prefer an easy to remember passphrase over a complicated password. For example
poking-shack-esquire
EYM29n7QYWgzx6
Navigate to: My Account, and select Change Password
Rules
Only you should know your password. Do not give your password to someone else.
Use your own password - not someone else.
Do not save passwords in word documents, instead use Bitwarden to manage Avondale’s passwords.
Manage your personal passwords separately from Avondale’s passwords.
You should not write your, or any other, password on a sticky note on your desk.
Password Complexity Requirements
Your new password will need to be:
A minimum of 14 characters
Contain 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, a digit and a symbol.
Does not contain sequential characters such as
123,qwertyor1qazanywhere in your password.Does not contain common passwords (see below).
Managing Passwords in a Physical Book
You may write your password in a personal book expressly used for recording your passwords. Please understand this is risky. Tech Services does not prefer this option but it is a practice that depending on the individual can be used effectively.
You should not write your password on a sticky note on your desk. Tech Services will change your password and not tell you the new one if we see this. Instead, please practice typing the password into muscle memory.
