If you are on our Sydney campus, you may have recently seen a new friendly face. Jennifer Greensill has been working at Avondale for a few weeks now, and is delighting in getting to know the library and students. Here, she answered a few questions for us.

Jennifer Greensill (Jenn)

What is your role at Avondale? I am the new Librarian at our Sydney Campus (Monday- Thursday) and Lake Macquarie Campus (Friday). I love helping students and staff find resources for their learning & research needs, supporting referencing queries and providing Endnote help.

I am an Avondale graduate, completing my Bachelor of Education (Primary) many many years ago. I have lived in both Andre and Ella Boyd dorms and “Nappy Valley” after I married James Greensill who was also at Avondale studying Bachelor of Arts (Theology). I loved my “Avondale experience” and feel it is a great honour and privilege to now serve and support you.

I am a current student at Charles Sturt University completing a Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) and hope to be finished this year. I can totally relate to the juggle you are experiencing with study, work, family and everything in between. And I know that finding the “right” resource at the right time makes all the difference and helps you keep going with your assignments. I am here to help make your life easier! So please come in and see me!

My husband James and I have three gorgeous children, Grace (15), Josiah (13) and Asher (11), a Maltese Cavalier King Charles dog called Mali and a Blue-Russian cat called Willow. We love the beach, going for drives, mountain bike riding, skateboarding (I have a scar to prove this) and I enjoy gardening.

I love short reads that leave me pondering and historical fiction. My favourite book is Drops like stars by Rob Bell. It taught me that when living your life with Jesus, you need to expect the unexpected! This book really helped me understand how to navigate the unexpected. This is a beautifully written book and I thoroughly recommend reading it!  I was so pleased to see it in our library! So check it out! The next time you’re at our Lake Macquarie Campus, you’ll find it on our shelves at 242.4 B41, unless someone beat you to it.
