Mark Remembrance Day with a selection of Australian war stories

Even though Remembrance Day is over, reflect on Australia’s wartime history and its affects in our selection of documentaries. Watch first-person accounts of the impact of serving in a revealing episode of You Can’t Ask That, and discover more about our nation’s role in global conflicts. Begin your historiography of World War I with Charles Bean’s Great War, relive a journalist’s experience in Gallipoli: When Murdoch Went to War, and hear personal stories from soldiers’ diaries, as narrated by Sam Neill in GallipoliAustralian Story tells World War II’s The Story of the Krait and learn about the technology that shaped life in the trenches in Aussie Inventions That Changed the World.    


Australia at war: changing perspectives

See how depictions of Australia’s involvement in war have changed over eight decades, from 1940’s World War I epic Forty Thousand Horsemen, to 2019’s Vietnam War drama, Danger Close. Revisit Australian New Wave film with Breaker MorantGallipoli and The Lighthorsemen, and the more recent Kokoda and Beneath Hill 60.
