Filtering Search Results
Filters let you narrow the focus of / refine your search. These features allow us to reduce the large number of results, and create a list of results that is refined. You can apply multiple filters at the same time to produce a really specific results list.
To filter your research results in Primo:
- Take a look through the list of filters to the left of your search results. (Refine my results section)
- Use the down arrow next to the filter type to open the section
- Choose the relevant filter and type by hovering your mouse over the type and selecting the square box on the left.
- You can use the red square box on the right to filter by excluding all of these resource types. (I would tick this box if I didn't want journal articles to appear in my search.)

Managing Filters
You can see what filters you have applied in the Active Filters section that appears above the Refine My results in the left pane.

To manage these filters you have several options:
- Lock your filters if your resources need to meet specific criteria, such as a date range, or be peer reviewed. Apply these filters to your search results, then at the top of the Refine my results pane, hover your mouse over the filter and click the padlock to keep the filter persistent throughout your search session.
- If you have several filters you want to lock, select Remember all filters to keep all your filters persistent throughout your search session
- Remove unwanted filters by selecting the X at the end of each filter name, or choose Reset filters to remove all filters
