How Can You Access Us?

All enrolled students (on-campus and off-campus) have access to academic writing support. In many ways, academic writing is like learning a new language, and the tutors are here to provide some guidance through that process of learning. Our services are delivered from the Lake Macquarie campus, the Sydney campus and through various online platforms. Students who would like some support with their academic writing, or require science and maths support, can access tutoring support in the following ways: Face-to-face Lake Macquarie; Campus; Face-to-face Sydney Campus; virtual face-to-face (Zoom); online review of papers; and by phone.

Face-to-Face Lake Macquarie Campus

The face-to-face support is delivered from the Tutoring Service Room (colloquially referred to as the Tutors Den) on the upper level of the Learning Centre (Library). After entering the Learning Centre, take the stairs that lead to the Main Collection, at the top of the stairs turn left, and walk as far as you can in that direction. Students can either drop-in when they are on site, or schedule an appointment through the LibCal BookNow system. A booking is recommended to ensure you are able to meet with a tutor as they may already be seeing someone if you leave it to a drop-in. Tutor availability is uploaded in the LibCal BookNow system and students should book with a tutor that suits their individual availabilities.

Face-to-Face Sydney Campus

The face-to-face support is delivered from the library and is available for students on the Sydney Campus during semester by appointment. Students can schedule their appointment through the LibCal BookNow system. Tutor availability is uploaded in the LibCal BookNow system, and students should book with a tutor that suits their individual availabilities.

Virtual Face-to-Face (Zoom & Phone)

If you are unable to meet with a tutor in person, you can book a virtual session that is delivered via the Zoom platform. These sessions can be particularly helpful to off-campus and distance students. If it is more convenient to speak with a tutor over the phone, include your phone number in the booking notes when you schedule your appointment through the LibCal BookNow system, and a tutor will call you in the designated time to proceed with your appointment. Tutor availability is uploaded in the LibCal BookNow system, and students should book with a tutor that suits their individual availabilities.

Phone Appointment

If it is more convenient to speak with a tutor over the phone, include your phone number in the booking notes when you schedule your appointment through the LibCal BookNow system, and a tutor will call you in the designated time to proceed with your appointment. These sessions can be particularly helpful to off-campus and distance students. Tutor availability is uploaded in the LibCal BookNow system, and students should book with a tutor that suits their individual availabilities.
